Rooms 8 have been compiling a book about the events that have happened in Fitzroy School during 2010.
Everybody in the class has done something for the book. We are doing this on- line and the book will be published in America before the end of the year. It will cost $50 so we will buy 1 copy for the school. Some of the events you will read about in the book are about our camp, choir, Beach Ed and World Vision. There is a GREAT class photo to go on 1 of the covers!
We will invite you to look through it in class, when it arrives.

Puddles

On a cloudy Friday morning as walking to school, as I get in the gates I see kids jumping up and down, screaming and laughing. I then realize there is a huge puddle covering half the court.
In some parts of the puddle it was almost knee deep.
All of the kids were tempted to jump even more into the puddle but the teachers said “No! You can’t be wet in class all day!

Ms P's Sleepy Day

Here’s Ms P. She had a big night out. Ms P went to one of the GTARanaki midnight concerts and when she came back it was 2:30 in the morning! When Ms P came to school she almost fell asleep in class when she was writing something on the whiteboard when she was teaching Room 8.

Oh my goodness, Room 8! It is so long since I put the one and only entry onto the Blog! I am not very good at this am I? Thanks to Mr Pillette for helping Paige, Brooke and Emmy today to put this latest entry on. He is such a whizz at it isn't he. I am going to leave it to you Room 8 kids to keep the Blog active.
Thanks kids for a fabulous week of work , independence and togetherness. It makes me feel great about this job. Have a great weekend and be good to your families.
xx Ms P

Thank You Mrs Clow...

Today we farewelled our Dental Nurse, Mrs.Clow, who has been with our Fitzroy School family for 25 years. We will miss her because she has been a fantastic dental nurse who has looked after our teeth. We all look forward to seeing her in her new clinic at NPGHS. The following poem was written for Mrs. Clow by Brooke McAuley.

THANK YOU MRS. CLOW

There’s a knock at the door, it’s Mrs Clow
Oh, no she’s waving her pink cards to and fro.

The whole class has fingers crossed with mutterings of “I hope it is not me”,
Wouldn’t you know it, a trip to the dental clinic is for Brooke McAuley.

I grip my Mum’s hand tight as I walk up the stairs,
I pray inside my head that she can tame all my fears.

As I walk through the doors, the smell of rubber and toothpaste fill the air,
Oh no! In front of me is the big scary chair.

The light is so bright I choose the pink sunnies to try and hide,
And before I know it I hear “Open wide”

Then it’s a flick here and ‘pick’ there,
Then a rinse, gurgle and a spit.

Fears enter my head of getting a dreaded filling.
When Mum nagged me to brush my teeth, I wish I had been more willing.

But as luck would have it I get the all clear.
I should have known I had nothing to fear.

However, before I can leave this place,
I get a little souvenir of a bumblebee necklace.

We thank you for all your care for the last 25 years.
You have the knack for calming all our fears.

We all have different memories of our visits to Mrs Clow
And Fitzroy School is very sad to see you go.

As we all wave goodbye with a tear in our eye
We think “Don’t worry; we will soon see you at Girls High”.

From Brooke and Fitzroy School

Collage Faces

These are some of the alter egos that abound in Room 8! They were achieved by finding mouth, eyes and nose features in magazines and adding them to collaged face structures and backgrounds. They look amazing and some even closely resemble their artistic creater!

Welcome to Room 8's new Blog site.

This is a new venture for us, especially for Ms P who is attempting to set it up! Once she has, it's over to us kids to keep you informed about what we are doing in class, around school and sometimes, away from it.
